Pena Palace
The Palacio da Pena is an extravagant yet relatively modern building. The outside evokes Disney in that its pink and yellow towers and domes boast drawbridges, sculptures and detail that one can only imagine exist in fantasy.

Built in 1840s by German architect Baron Eschwege to the specifications of Dom Fernidand of Saxe- Coburg- Gotha, this fabulous Palace served as a love nest for him and his wife Queen Maria II.

The interior of Palace is surprising. The rooms are full of imaginative ornate and in some cases suffocatingly detailed.The Palace of Pena is entered through an impressive stretch of gardens with lakes and follies.

The terraces of Pena Palace have a spectacular view over Atlantic and Lisbon.

From historic center of Sintra to the Palácio da Pena you can go by car (10 min), by bike (35 min) or walking (50 min).
